Functions & Responsibilities:

Roles of the R&D Committee

• Strategic Planning:
• Formulate research and development policies in alignment with the institution's or organization's vision and goals.
• Identify priority research areas and emerging fields for focused exploration.
• Set short-term and long-term goals for research output and innovation.
• Resource Allocation:
• Plan and manage budgets for research projects.
• Allocate resources, such as labs, equipment, and funding, to researchers and innovators.
• Oversee the disbursement of grants, fellowships, and financial assistance for projects.
• Capacity Building:
• Organize training programs, workshops, and seminars to build research competencies.
• Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration among departments and external stakeholders.
• Foster industry-academia linkages for knowledge exchange and joint projects.
• Supervision and Governance:
• Monitor the progress of ongoing research activities and ensure compliance with ethical and legal standards.
• Review and approve research proposals and projects.
• Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and dissemination of research outcomes.
• Innovation and Commercialization:
• Encourage patent filing, intellectual property management, and technology transfer.
• Support the incubation of startups and the commercialization of research outcomes.
• Promote entrepreneurship through Business Incubator (BI) programs.
• Quality Assurance:
• Ensure research outputs meet academic and industry standards.
• Encourage publications in high-impact journals and participation in conferences.
• Implement mechanisms for peer reviews and evaluations of research work.

Responsibilities of the R&D Committee

1. Policy Implementation:
• Implement institutional policies related to research integrity, funding, and collaborations.
• Develop and enforce guidelines for ethical research practices.
2. Facilitating Collaboration:
• Collaborate with government agencies, industries, and funding bodies.
• Facilitate international and national research collaborations.
3. Support for Researchers:
• Provide mentorship and guidance to researchers, scholars, and faculty members.
• Address challenges faced by researchers and provide solutions.
4. Evaluation and Reporting:
• Periodically evaluate research progress and the impact of R&D initiatives.
• Submit reports to the governing body or external stakeholders regarding achievements and challenges.
5. Outreach and Awareness:
• Promote awareness of R&D activities within and outside the institution.
• Organize exhibitions, fairs, and public lectures to showcase research achievements.
